The book has wipe off pages, and the words are so tender for any little one to snuggle up to Mommie, and just bond. I read this book to my 4 year old son, and the look on his face was worth a million stars. Great book for all ages.
Big Nutbrown Hare shares his wisdom, explaining that the tiny tadpole will grow into a frog, the caterpillar into a butterfly, and the egg into a bird. Like every child, Little Nutbrown Hare is curious about life and asks his father many questions about growing up. They will also learn how animals change as they grow all the while being charmed by the captivating drawings.Quill says: There's a reason this series has sold millions of copies - don't miss it. There are few books that fall into the category of must haves for young children, but When I'm Big is such a book. Written by acclaimed children's author, Sam McBratney, who has authored over 50 books, and rose to international fame with his multi-million selling picture book Guess How Much I Love You, When I'm Big is sure to also become a best seller.Partnered with his frequent collaborator, illustrator Anita Jeram, McBratney has written another endearing, delightful, and witty story featuring the father-son team of Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare. Thinking about all the animals growing up, Little Nubrown Hare then asks the most important question, "What does a little brown hare like me turn into."Children will identify with the curious young hare in this story and delight in the answers of the father.
My nearly-two-year-old loves this book and it is one we don't mind reading because it is clever and fun. I don't know how much of the concept is getting across yet, but with a new baby in the house, I think the idea of people/animals/plans growing up is starting to come into focus.
Maybe he'll enjoy it more when he's older. It's not done in rhyme and my son is easily bored. With a board book you expect it to be for younger children. This is a nice story, just not for toddlers. I read it once and filed it away on the bookshelf.
He's 2.5. When we came home, the package with several copies of this book was on the doorstep. Then, we walked a copy over to the neighbors and read it with them. My son loves it. What a cute book. We read it and he was captivated.
They also loved it. This is just such a cute book. We were just talking about how calves grow up to be big cows (we went for ice cream at a local farm and they had lots of cows and calves there). Loved reading this book.
